Problem/Question
Recommended Windows 10 network configuration for Ergosoft 16 Sequoia

Solution/Work-Around

Important!

The following instructions should in any case be carried out by a network and PC administrator!

Ergosoft accepts no liability or responsibility for correctness and completeness!

Workgroup / Domain: the same for all PCs

Setup:

  1. Click on Start > Enter "Change workgroup name".
  2. Open Control Panel App
  3. Click <Change> button
  4. Assign same workgroup name for all

Note: In larger companies, it may not be possible to change the workgroup name yourself. An admin is required for this.

Note: Domain computers also work with SEQ. This is set up by the admin in larger companies.

IP addresses: Use static for all PCs and printers (recommended)

Setup:

  1. Goto Windows Settings > Network and Internet > Ethernet
  2. Click "Change adapter option"
  3. Select network connection > right mouse button > Properties
  4. Select Internet Protocol, Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > Properties
  5. Select Manual Input
Note: The use of two separate networks works without any problems. It must only be ensured that access with read/write rights to the master dongle and the shared storage folder works.

Named: give each PC its own name for use in the Sequoia configuration.

Setup:

  1. Goto Windows Settings > System > About
  2. Click <Rename this PC>
  3. Assign a unique name (e.g.: Customer name-Master or -Client01)

Network: Profile should be set to Private (default)

Setup:

  1. Goto Windows Settings > Network and Internet > Status
  2. Click the <Property> button under the active network connection
  3. Set network profile to "Private"

Note: In larger organisations where Domain PCs are used, the Domain network profile must be used. The setup is the same as under "Private"

Network: Enable detection

Setup:

  1. Goto Windows Settings > Network and Internet > Ethernet
2. Click on "Change advanced sharing options"
3. In the sharing options in the private profile (should be marked as current), switch on <network discovery>
  4. In addition, check the box "Automatic setup of devices..."
  5. Save the change (admin password may be required)

Note: In larger companies where Domain PCs are used, the sharing options for the domain must be set. The setup is the same as under "Private"

Note: After all points have been set up, a restart is required!

Network: all necessary PCs must be accessible in the network

Control:

  1. Goto Windows File Explorer > Network
  2. After setting up the above, all PCs belonging to the Sequoia network should be visible (names)

Sharing: Dongle Sharing

Setup: > follow the Ergosoft 16 Network Installation / Sequoia article at the Ergosoft Documentation Portal

Sharing: Read/write sharing for shared storage

Setup:

  1. Create Shared Storage Folder (for information see KB - Sequoia Shared Storage).
  2. Select properties for the new folder via the right mouse button
  3. Goto the TAB "Sharing" and click the <Share> button
  4. Select and add a share for "Everyone" in the dropdown menu.
  5. Assign "Read & Write" permissions

Note: Under the <Advanced Share> this can be set up in a defined way. Admin rights are required!

Sequoia Note: When querying the dongle via a remote PC, the master must be available in the list!

Shared Storage Folder: must be available at all times for all workstations in the network.

Activation:

  1. Goto Windows File Explorer > Network
  2. Select the PC (name) on which the shared storage folder is located
  3. Log in with user and password
  4. Select the shared storage folder with the right mouse button
  5. Select "Connect network drive"
  6. Select free drive letter
  7. Cick the checkbox "Reconnect on login"
