Sequoia Modes

Problem/Question

When installing Sequoia you will be asked in which mode you want to install the software. This raises the question

“What is the difference between the modes you can run Sequoia?"

At this installation window you can select which version of Sequoia you want to install.

Solution/Work-Around

Master

1. This is the first installation point for the Sequoia Network
   
2. The Master should act as the license server, that means the Dongle hast to be plugged in on this PC
   
3. The Shared Folder must be already mapped before installation
   
4. The Master uses the Communication Utility  to establish the necessary connection between the individual Clients and their function as defined in the license (Floating License)
   
5. The Master holds the centralized JobQueue and production database
   
6. In the Sequoia Network the Master must always be online during production
   
7. The Master must always be started first in the Sequoia Network
   
8. The Master can be used as a Layout and Output Station
   

Client

1. All Other PCs in the Sequoia Network should be configured in Client mode
   
2. During the Client installation the Master must always be accessible
   
3. Ensure access to the Shared Storage
   
4. The individual Clients connect to the Master using the Communication Utility  and get their functionality by the License query on the Master (Floating License)
   
5. The Client Workstations can be used with the following functions (configurable at the Ergosoft ControlCenter ):
   
1. Layout Station (only JobComposer)
   
2. Output Station (only RipEngines and Print & CutQueue(s))
   
3. Layout and Output Station (with JobComposer, RipEngines and Print & CutQueue(s))
   

Standalone

1. In the Sequoia Network it is possible to switch to Standalone mode if the Master is not available (see instructions here)
   
2. Workstations without connection to a Sequoia Network can be installed in Standalone mode
   
3. For the Standalone mode installation you need an extra Dongle and License
   
4. In Standalone mode all functions in the respective License can be used
