Change User Data Folder

Change User Data Folder

Problem/Question
Recourses like Print Environments, Presets, ICC profiles, and other settings are stored in a so-called User Data Folder. Per default, this UDF automatically is created when Ergosoft gets installed for the first time under C:\Users\Public\Documents\EsRip.

The following video illustrates the structure of the stored data within the program directory and the user data folder.

Due to e.g. Windows updates or other system errors, problems may occur in the RIP.
(JobComposer crash, defective Print Environments, connection errors, etc...)

Often, using a new, empty User Data Folder and starting from scratch resolves the problems.
(The old UDF should not be deleted. It might be needed to import Print/Cut Environments or Presets once the new UDF successfully has been set.)

Solution/Work-Around
To change the user data folder proceed as follows:
  1. Create a new folder next to the existing UDF.
Give it a meaningful name, e.g. "17 New".
  2. Start the maintenance tool.
    Close all other Ergosoft programs.
  3. Click on "Set user data path".
Confirm the message about "all Ergosoft programs will get closed".
  4. Select the new, empty folder.
  5. Confirm with "OK"
  6. Restart the RIP

Notes
  1. If you want to automatically import the most important settings from your old UDF, you can "Show data migration options" and select the parts you want to migrate.
  2. If you want to make sure to not re-import a potentially corrupted file, do not activate the migration options.
