Definition and content of subfolder FILES of the Ergosoft User Data folder

  • CutData – default output location for file-output cut drivers.
    • Manually deleting these files does not do any harm – as long as the user does not need the data any longer.
    • When creating a CutClient for a file-output cut driver (Flatbed cutters, barcode cutters), you have to specify the folder for the plot data. For not-caring users (or users that do not understand/care for the design of Print/CutClients), we needed to suggest a location that always exists. So we went with a subfolder of the user data folder.
    • The location can be changed by changing the output folder in the CutClients.

  • JobPreviewCache – location for temporarily saving and swapping data from job previews that cannot be hold in RAM.
    • Manually deleting these files does not do any harm.
    • The files in this folder should be removed automatically when the JobComposer is closed.
    • After crashes, files can still exist.

  • PrintData – default output location for some file-output print drivers.
    • Manually deleting these files does not do any harm – as long as the user does not need the data any longer.
    • When creating a PrintClient for some specific file-output print drivers (e.g. Zimmer, Durst, EFI Reggiani, and others), you have to specify the folder for the output data, that are handled by the printer frontend. For not-caring users (or users that do not understand/care for the design of Print/CutClients), we needed to suggest a location that always exists. So we went with a subfolder of the user data folder.
    • The location can be changed by changing the output folder in the PrintClients.

  • PrintIntermed – for temporary files needed by some print drivers
    • Manually deleting these files does not do any harm – as long as the RIPServers are idle.

  • Raster – temporary raster data created by the PostScript / PDF interpreter
    • Manually deleting these files does not do any harm – as long as the RIPServer is not processing a job with EPS or PDF files at the same time.
    • The temporary raster data from interpreting EPS and PDF/AI files is saved for re-use whenever the same image with the same parameters (size, resolution, color management) must be re-ripped.
    • Missing files are automatically re-created.
    • Use the function in JobComposer menu Tools > Options > Application > PostScript/PDF Interpreter for changing the settings for automatic deletion.
    • Use the functions in JobComposer menu Tools > Options > Application > PostScript/PDF Interpreter, RIPServer menu Tools > Options, or Maintenance Tool Troubleshooting > Delete all temporary raster files for deleting the files without using Windows File Explorer.
    • The location can be changed using the settings in the JobComposer menu.

  • Restore – for unpacking processed jobs
    • Manually deleting these files does not do any harm – as long as the user does not need the data any longer.
    • When editing a processed job using the JobQueue function Edit Job or when importing an archived job into JobComposer using the function File > Import from Archive, the information (print environment, images) are saved in subfolders of this folder.
    • The contents can be deleted when it is no longer needed.

  • SnapRO – image previews (Snapshots)
    • Manually deleting these files does not do any harm.
    • Use JobComposer menu Tools > Options > Applications > Snapshots for controlling the location of the snapshots and manual/automatic deletion. Save all snapshots in a common local folder refers to this folder.
    • Not existing snapshots are automatically (re-)created.

  • Spool – default location of spool files from PrintClient and CutClients.
    • Do not manually delete these files.
    • Those files are removed depending on the settings of the print job (Keep RIP data after printing in the Print dialog is the trigger parameter). When a job is removed from the JobQueue resp. when a job is deleted from the PrintClient or JobCenter (or JobQueue window in JobComposer), also the spool files will be deleted.
    • When creating a PrintClient/CutClient, you can pick the spool folder. For not-caring users (or users that do not understand/care for the design of PrintClient/CutClients), we needed to suggest a location that always exists. So we went with a subfolder of the user data folder.
    • If removing the spool data is necessary, e.g. because you run out of disk space and deleting the job from the JobQueue is not an option, use the Properties function when you right-click on a job in the JobQueue. The upcoming dialog allows removing the spool data safely. Deleting the spool data via Windows will result in errors when attempting to reprint the job.
    • The location can be changed in the configuration of the PrintClient/CutClient.

  • TEMP – temporary data
    • Manually deleting these files does not do any harm – as long as the RIP is not running (use Shutdown ErgoSoft RIP from the Maintenance Tool before cleaning this folder) and the TrueShape Nesting PDFs are no longer needed.
    • Instead of using the standard temporary folder from Windows, the ErgoSoft RIP uses its own folder for temporary data.
    • This folder contains everything that is just temporarily needed such as calibration charts, colorbook jobs, jobs from Print Similar Colors, etc.
    • By default, the PDFs created by TrueShape Nesting are also saved in this folder – use the settings in the TrueShape Nesting dialog to change this folder.
    • With the exception of TrueShape Nesting PDFs, all temporary data should be deleted automatically when the module, that created it, is closed.
    • Crashes of modules (and some other circumstances) prevent the folder from being automatically cleaned (similar to Windows TEMP folder).
