Problem/Question
Printing very small objects with PDF input files, the output might look pixelated, not smooth enough.
Solution/Work-Around
To improve the output quality for small objects you should change settings of the PostScript/PDF Parameters.
You can access the settings by
- Context menu (right click on the PDF file) > Renderer Options
- Top menu > Tools > Application Defaults > PostScript/PDF Parameters
- Top menu > Tools > Edit Presets > Composite Presets > Image Preset > + > PostScript/PDF Parameters
Automatic raster resolution reduction
For faster image processing, this is set to 300dpi by default.
-> Uncheck option or increase dpi to improve output quality.
Interpreter for PDF Rendering
For optimized PDF rendering of most jobs, this is set to default.
-> Switch to Legacy to change the PDF interpreter engine.
Deactivate Anti-Aliasing
For smooth font interpretation, Anti-Aliasing is turned on by default.
-> Use this option to sharpen small texts.
Default settings vs. no raster resolution reduction
Side notes
- Always delete raster data before testing with a new setting (Top menu > Application Defaults > PostScript/PDF Interpreter > Temporary Raster Files > Empty Folder)
- Please be aware that the output quality is also depending on the printers native resolution.
