Error 10054 Connection closed by remote host
Problem/Question
While sending raster data to the printer, the Job is aborted and the PrintQueue shows the error message
“Error 10054 Connection closed by remote host”
The error message indicates that the connection between Computer/Software and the Printer was closed by the printer. This can have multiple reasons but is often related to a timeout.
Another common source of this error is if the IP address to address the printer is not correct or is used by another device in the Network.
Solution/Work-Around
- Check the IP of the printer on its panel and compare it to the port settings of the PrintQueue
- Ping the IP with the printer turned on
- Switch off the printer and ping the IP again
If the ping is still successful another device in the network uses the same IP - Change the IP of the printer
- Add a new port to the PrintQueue using the new IP
If the error still persists, turn off the status monitor of the printer and/or deactivate "Check printer status before print" in the PrintQueue.
