Easy generation of Print Environment for HP Latex 700/800/W

Easy generation of Print Environment for HP Latex 700/800/W

Problem/Question
The HP Latex 700/800/W works with so called "Substrate Presets" containing color management, resolution settings and hardware parameters to classify different print modes. Some generic Substrate Presets already stored in the printers are meant to enable a convenient, fast setup. To generate a new print mode, please refer to the HP Latex manual.

How can I synchronize the preset zu Ergosoft?
Once created, importing these presets to Ergosoft RIP is easy.

Solution/Work-Around
Consider, that this is a Contone driver. After following the instruction, Ergosoft applies the color management to the sent job - the printer's CPU will then rasterize the data.
  1. Start Ergosoft Job Composer, add a new Print Environment (use the corresponding HP Latex driver) and set up the port
  2. Navigate to the Device Options tab and select the desired media and print mode
  3. Press the "Import ICC Profile" button - the ICC is now embedded into the Print Environment (see Quality tab > Printer Profile)
  4. Navigate to General tab and give the Print Environment a name
(It is recommended to use the "Auto" button and then maybe change individual details.)
Notes
  1. There are 3 different options to get a Substrate Preset
    1. Use one of the existing generic ones
    2. Download one from the HP Media Locator (on the printer panel)
    3. Create an individual preset and generate an ICC using the in-line spectrophotometer (on the printer panel)
  2. You can also generate color management with Ergosoft RIP
    1. Generate a media and print mode (substrate preset) on the printer panel without creating an ICC
    2. Create a new Print Environment and select the media an print mode
    3. Do the Ergosoft Output Color Management workflow (Linearization, Ink Limit, Printer Profile)
  3. Decide whether to do the CMM with the printer or with the Ergosoft RIP - do not mix.
  4. Make sure to have a suitable measurement device (like e. g. i1 Pro 3) and a ColorGPS license if you wish to create ICC with Ergosoft RIP.
